2008/2009 - Simone Schweber is the Goodman Professor of Education and Jewish Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her first book, Making Sense of the Holocaust: Lessons from Classroom Practice (Teachers College Press, 2004), examined the teaching of history within public high school settings. Her second book (co-authored with Debbie Findling) provides guidelines, historical materials, and provocative activities for teachers who’d like to teach about the Holocaust in thoughtful, age-appropriate ways. In addition to these books, Schweber has been published in some of the most prestigious education journals, including: Teachers College Record, Curriculum Inquiry, Qualitative Inquiry and Jewish Social Studies. She teaches courses on Holocaust memory, religion and public schooling, how to teach social studies, and qualitative research methods.
