2008 / 2009 - MICHAEL BERNARD-DONALS, the Nancy Hoefs Professor of English, has been awarded a sabbatical leave in the fall of 2008 to do research at the Institutional Archives of the United States Holocaust Museum. The research is for his most recent book, provisionally entitled Conflations of Memory, on the spatial geography of the USHMM and how it creates, shapes, and changes collective and individual memories of the Holocaust and other related events. In the spring of 2009, Professor Bernard-Donals will continue his research at the Institute for Research in the Humanities. In January of 2009, his book — entitled Forgetful Memory: Representation and Remembrance after Auschwitz — will be published by SUNY Press.
