2008/2009 - David Sorkin (Professor of History and Frances and Laurence Weinstein Professor of Jewish Studies) has finished his term as Director of the Institute for Research in the Humanities (2003-07). A former Director of the Center for Jewish Studies (1993-98), he is the author of three books: The Transformation of German Jewry, 1780-1840 (1987), Moses Mendelssohn and the Religious Enlightenment (1996), The Berlin Haskalah and German Religious Thought (2000), all available in paperback. He has written four books, the last being: The Religious Enlightenment: Protestants, Jews and Catholics from London to Vienna (2008).
